The Murassa Lamp blends brass craftsmanship
with the vibrant colors of Judas trees along the Bosphorus.
In 1453, when Mehmed the Conqueror captured Constantinople, the shores of the Bosphorus were adorned with Judas trees’ pinkish-purple blossoms.Since then, this hue has remained as the color of Istanbul and mentioned in numerous Ottoman paintings and poems.
The Judas tree is a very rare tree as it blooms directly from its trunk. This natural phenomenon, known as cauliflory, inspired us on the creation of the Murassa* Lamp.
